Admissions and transfers

At St. Aidan’s, we are committed to providing high quality education to children in our neighbourhood. Some will have special educational needs (SEN) or a disability. The arrangements for admitting these children are the same as for all others. Read more...

Attendance and punctuality

Ideally, children should be in school, on time, 100% of the time. We attach great importance to making a prompt start to the day so children should arrive punctually at 8.50 am (9.00 am for the Nursery) every day. St. Aidan’s is a Voluntary Controlled Church of England primary school. Voluntary Controlled schools are maintained and run by the local authority. They generally have a religious foundation which appoints some of the Governing Body. The local authority employs staff and controls admissions and curriculum; the school’s land and buildings are generally owned by the authority. Food at school

Health and Welfare

If a child becomes unwell or has an accident in school, he or she will be seen by one of our first-aiders. The parents or carers will be contacted immediately if the child has been involved in a serious accident or is too ill to remain in school. Read more...

History

During the 19^th century, very few children went to school so the Church of England created schools in huge numbers to offer a basic education to the poor. In 1887, the Church opened a secondary school for girls on Church land – our school’s current site. The school was built by the Church Schools' Company and within a few years became known as Saint Aidan's. Read more...

School ethos and code of conduct

Good behaviour is important at St Aidan’s – and parents and carers have an important part to play. A happy school is one where children are confident and respect the rights of others.
