At St Aidan’s, we are committed to providing high quality education to children in our neighbourhood. Some will have special educational needs (SEN) or a disability. The arrangements for admitting these children are the same as for all others.
Nursery
Children are admitted to the Nursery at the start of the term immediately after their third birthday. Admission to nursery does not guarantee a place in Reception. Find here the Nursery admissions policy.
Reception
Children join Reception at the beginning of the academic year (1st September – 31st August) in which they will be five. During the summer term parents and carers of children who have been offered places are invited to an introductory meeting at which details of the school day are discussed.
Appeals
Parents whose children are not offered places at the school are entitled to appeal against the decision to the Local Authority.
Transfer to secondary school
Children transfer to secondary school at the end of Year 6 when they are 11. Application forms and information about secondary schools are provided at meetings held at the beginning of that year, in the Autumn Term. Parents and carers are encouraged to attend one of these meetings to discuss the process.
